This year's Chaos Cup Legacy team is Vampires and here is my player donation to this year's team.
The figure I used is produced by Willy Miniatures. He comes with a cape that can be attached or left off. The back is fully sculpted so I didn't need to do any extra work on him.
I didn't attach the cape and drew up an idea for how I wanted him to look.
Here's the final product.

Chaos Cup Legacy Display Base, part 2
I'm very excited. For multiple reasons. The display base has turned out pretty well. I drew up some chicken scratch drawings of how I wanted the base to look. All-in-all the main features worked out. There was only one feature I wanted to add but it didn't work out. My goal, with the base, was to add a little atmosphere but not take away from the team.
I added a black and brown wash to the "seems" in the floor and a black rim around the base.
The outside of the block walls needed some weathering. I've never done any weathering so this was a learning experience and it was fun to see how it came out.
I connected the wall to the base and matte varnished the whole thing. Here it is with a random figure for size reference.
Okay, here it is.

Chaos Cup Legacy Display Base, part 1
As stated many times previous, I won the Chaos Cup 2015 Legacy Team which was Chaos Dwarfs. This year I volunteered to organize the team. This year's team is Vampires. I got slightly less involvement than I expected but there still time to prove that thought wrong. As of today 13 to 14 people have pledged donations of some type. The team will have all 6 vampires, 8 plus thralls, (hopefully) some stars or sideline figures, a pitch and a display base.
When I started this gig I stated I would show the display board by 8/22, today. Now it's not finished but it is far enough along to include a photo just so you can see how it's coming along.
The bottom of the base is an 8" x 8" piece of craft wood. I covered it with some epoxy putty and added texturing to it with a rock from outside my house. I used a clay-shaper to mark in the outlines of the "flagstone" flooring. I then primed the floor and gave it a black base-coat. I use black, grey, and white paints in many mixes to dry-brush the "flagstone". I built a wall section into the corner to give the base some height. The walls are 8x2 prong building blocks that were covered in filler to take away some of their distinctive features. The wall was primed and dry-brushed in the same way as the floor. I made a wash out of some burnt umber acrylic paint ant water. I slapped that on and then used a cloth to dab it off.
I plan to do more to it before it's done and I will post the final product here too.

Here is how he looks with his fellow Bull:
All-in-all he is comparable to what I envisioned. I'm not too happy with his skin-tone. I'm happy with the way the metallics turned out; could always be better but it's a start. He should be a nice addition to the team.
Next project:
Finish building AoW Guerrillas
Just for fun and so others know it happens to everyone...

What a Mess!
I'm in a little bit of a funk. I've got plenty of things to work on but I don't want to do any of it. I've decided to put everything on the shelf. I'm going to pick up my desk/work area... again. This time, hopefully, I can keep it clean... ish.
This is what I've been working with. Terribly messy. I ashamed of how bad I let it get. Here it is after it has been picked up. I haven't organized it that well yet but I think this is an ok starting point. I will keep it clean. I will keep it clean. I will keep it clean...
Now that it's clean, I will do one task from an ever-evolving list I'm making. I don't have anything that is pressing so I'll start with...
Fuzzy quick snaps taken to show just how bad it has gotten. |
Broken fire alarm, Tumbling Monkeys... |
I know exactly where everything is, or isn't, or where is that..? |

I Have a Blog?
I've been gone so long. I've been doing stuff but so randomly I didn't feel the need or the worth to post.
I started to block out some base colors on my Impact! human figures so I figure I should update this with the colors used. I've also decided to combine some teams I have so they can be used as a multitude of teams. Since I'm doing that I feel it necessary to log my colors and such.
The main colors are green and brass with red and black accents. For the "human" members of the team this means green pants and gloves, dark grey/black shirts and shoes, black or red leather belts, and brassy armor.
Here are so starts:
Some Base Colors Blocked In |
Trollcast Casualty on the Left |
Human Example |
Green: VMC German Uniform Green
Dark Grey: VMC Black/Grey
Metal: VMC Brass
Red: Citadel Old Foundation Mechrite Red?
Black: VMC Black
I've been building my Necro/Unded Willy team also. I intend to use the combination of models to make five teams, Humans, Norse, Chaos Pact, Necro and Undead.
Some of the White Metal I'm Glueing |
I've been sporadically working on finishing up the Chaos Cup Legacy team from 2015. It needs at least one more bull and one more chaos dwarf blocker. I almost done with the bull and I'm bashing up a blocker from stuff I have lying around.
Chaos Dwarf |
This was my MSPaint Sample |
Pretty close I think.
Chaos Dwarf is a blitzer body from 3rd ed I think, a head and spike from some plastic Chaos Warriors:

Showcase 3 - Lethal Leap
Showcase
- Lethal Leap
- Painted in 2013
- Color Schemes: Orange, Blue, Green, with Black Jersey
- Notes - This was the second go around for me painting this team, third time over-all. The original paint job (done by someone else) was bright but lacked shading. When I first time I painted the team, I used a green skin with red and yellow uniforms. I did this paint job very fast but I still think it is ok. This is probably my favorite race to play. I really enjoyed playing them in league formats. The blitzers are awesome but aren't cost effective for the majority of tournament builds.

January 11, 2016 - Review and New Plans and Projects
I actually did a lot this week but pictures are lacking.
- Prime bull centaur if it's not too cold - done (on the dowel)
- Gap/building work on Humans and AoW - done (no pic)
- Clean those that gap work is completed on - done (no pic)
- Prime Humans and AoW if it's not too cold - done (see pic)
- Clean and prepare one mummy from Undead team - not done (honestly, forgot)
29 Miniatures Ready for Paint |
I still need to finish building 5 AoW gorillas. There are 5 dog models and two dark elf models on there I didn't plan on doing originally. The dark elves are to finish up my Harvesters of Sorrow that I forgot I had unpainted. The dogs are to be used in my Witch Hunters warband for Mordheim (just in case I ever play that game again).
I am finding I want to switch up my posting plan for this year. I like reviewing on Monday's but waiting until Fridays to post my plans isn't working. I think I'll start including my plans for the next week in the review post of the week prior. Fridays are going to remain showcase days. I still intend to do gaming post but since games are so few and far between, those posts are going to be sporadic.
Plans and Projects for Jan 11 - Jan 17
- Block in colors for remaining dark elf pieces.
- Block in colors on bull centaur.
- Block in colors on dogs.
- Start converting final chaos dwarf blocker.
- Block in colors on AoW minis that were just primed.

Jan 4, 2016 - Review
Plans and Projects from January 1
1. Clean and organize my paint/hobby area.
2. Clean and prepare my bull centaur to finish up that position on my 2015 Legacy Team from the Chaos Cup.
3. Build him
I used a combination of epoxy putty and super glue. I drilled a hole in his foot with the intention of mounting him on the dowel you see, but he may be too heavy. We'll see.
He's heavy. |
4. Prime him
Too cold
5. Rough out design for DB Dugouts
Forgot to write it in my notes but I have the dimensions.

2016 New Year, New Format - Showcase 1
Well it's 2016 and I think I've filled my hobby plate pretty full. What I've done in the past is just post when I do something with a little bit of a "to do" plan but it's extremely flexible. This year I want to try a different tact. I know a lot of people have tried hard plans and it hasn't worked out the best for them, but I'll still try it. Here are the goals:
January 1 is a Friday so let's start now!
Plans and Projects
- Post Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week.
- Monday - Review of the past weeks projects
- Wednesday - Review of whatever gaming actually got done
- Friday - Plans and projects, or Showcases
- Update photos of completed work
- Build and paint a minimum of 26 models this year
- Attend a minimum of 5 Blood Bowl tourneys this year.
- Complete the terrain I have started
- Complete preparations for Dog Bowl by March 5.
- Build and paint one "competition level" (work as hard as possible) piece. I would like to see where I'm at.
- Play an average one table top game per week. Tournament games do count.
- Design, build and finish a complete terrain piece

Plans and Projects
- Clean and organize my paint/hobby area.
- Clean and prepare my bull centaur to finish up that position on my 2015 Legacy Team from the Chaos Cup.
