Blood Bowl Legends Cup

In 2016 Games Workshop re-released Blood Bowl.  Since then they have released a couple supplements describing league play and adding a bit to the fluff of the game.  The supplements included descriptions of 8 classic teams.

Xtreme (Zlurpcast's Other Guy) created an event, that is going to be a series, around these legendary teams.  Eight coaches from around the Midwest have been assigned to each team and will be leading them onto the pitch.  As new teams are introduced they will be created but for this round there are eight.  Each coach is responsible for creating the players as described in the fluff, using proper colors and physical traits, and creating new and interesting fluff about the teams.

The teams are:
Bright Crusaders, Human
Orcland Raiders, Orc
Celestial Comets, Elf
Grudge Bearers, Dwarf
Greenboyz, Goblin
Warpfire Wanderers, Skaven
Chaos All Stars, Chaos Pact
Underworld Creepers, Underworld

I was assigned to the Warpfire Wanderers.  I've not coached a skaven team more than a couple times so I'm looking forward to that aspect.  The first step I'm taking is acquiring miniatures and prepping them to become the Wanderers.  The team has a bit of a warpstone issue.  They like the green and their bodies have the mutations to show for it.  I've chose to use mostly third edition skaven miniatures to make up my team.

Here are some of the metal I've chosen:

Linerats
A lot of the linerats need mutations.  The extra arms is a sculpt, I'll need to make the rest.  There are six linerats on the team so I won't need to use all of these minis.

Blitzers
The one with the claw will have red fur.  The other will have a snake-like tail.

Throwers
The miniature without the big hand is supposed to be fur-less and covered in sores, should be fun.

Gutter Runners
There are only two gutter runners on the team but one has very long legs.  I'm trying to decide how I can use the one in the middle (with vll) to make a gutter runner.  Both runners will get weeping daggers.

Extras
Some of these may become sideline figs and some may just be inspirations.  The rat that looks mostly painted has been in break fluid for a total of 72 hours and the paint still won't come off.  I don't know what was used on that model.

Other Plans, these haven't been fully fleshed out:
Cheerleaders - Comixininos pieces, mod some unused linerats
Apoth - Comixininos
Counters - giant rats, Warpstone thingies
3D Dugout - Sewer Themed
Team bus
Locker room/Carrying case - Sewer Themed

The other coaches are all putting their stuff together and are coming up with great and inspiring ideas. This event is gonna be a blast.

Update 4-30: Bikes and News

I haven't updated this blog in a couple weeks but that doesn't mean I haven't been painting.  I finished up highlighting and tattooing the final DOA linemen.  The entire team is ready to be put on their bases.  Now I need to get the bases ready.  The bases have been primed and I will start putting painting them up and prepping the lettering.  I hope to have that work done by next week.

I also got started on some of the sideline fluff and the markers for the team.  I will be painting up some bikes as the ones the team road in on.  I started by priming the bikes black and wet brushing Citadel Chainmail  over them.  I painted some areas with Vallejo MC Black.  After that is done the next step is using a black wash over the models.  That is as far as any models are done to this point.  Here are some of them.

The bikes are all starting out looking pretty much the same but they'll each get their own extras to separate them.  There will be a total of five sideline bikes and a sixth bike will carry the teams apothecary.  I am very excited for getting these guys pitch ready.  I think a goal of 5/31/14 to have the whole thing finished seems obtainable, so that is what I'm shooting for.  This team is set to make its tournament debut in mid-July.

Update 11-8-13

I've been doing quite a bit of work.  Prepping sideline figs for the Dwarfs of Anarchy, prepping my big guys, setting up my painting area, and starting my test dwarf.  I took a bunch of photos of what I've done and they look like absolute crap.  So I figured I'd just tell you what is going on.

For the DoA I am using some bikes from West Wind Miniatures.  I think they are designed for a game called Roadkill.  I'm using 5 bikes as a representation of the bikes DoA road in on.  A sixth bike will have a rider carrying a chainsaw to represent the team apothecary.  To be used as counters, I have some 25mm bases with parts from mangled bikes, guns, and tools on them.

I have started painting my test model for the DoA.  I chosen to use a black and blue color scheme for the DoA relying heavily on black.  The base colors I've laid down so far are; Citadel Chainmail for the metal pieces, Citadel Ratskin Flesh for the skin, and Vallejo Off White for the eyes.

The three big guys I'm prepping are from Impact! Miniatures.  They are the new Trollcast models for the Middle Kingdom team (not new figures just resin instead of metal).  I assembled them, green stuffed the gaps, and cleaned them.  My intention is for the Ogre to be used with my Michigan State themed human team so I added a plume to the helmet with green stuff but I'm not happy with how it turned out so I'll be working more on it before I post anything here.

Speaking of photos, I don't have my set-up for painting done and I have no idea how to photograph minis.  I have recently read a "How To" by Jim Wapple on photographing miniatures and will be attempting to improve my photography.

So here are some crappy photos showing my basing so far:

Oh man this pic looks even worse than I thought.

And one bike:

Well...

It will get better from here, I hope.

Sideline Figs - BWB

Here are some "Babes" I painted a while back.

I didn't care for the apron so I colored it into the skirts.
