... A Slow Hand

I had a small amount of time last night so I did some building because my tools were out already.  Here is my progress from last night.

The Retributors still need their backpack things.  I was clipping and cleaning them up when I needed to go to bed.

Geez, I'm not good with assembly.  I get very frustrated with my lack of coordination but after short burst of anger I relax and remember just to go slow.

Three more models to go and I'll have the force built.  Of course they are the three most involved models but hey 15 down 3 to go there's light at the end of the tunnel.  Maybe I wont take that break I was thinking about and get this stuff done.

How do you folks do it?  This is the first time I've assembled this level and amount of the plastic crack, and it is crazy time consuming.  I'm just building the Stormcast half of the starter box and it is taking forever.  I've worked on them for about 4 hours (not in a row), and I've put together all ten Liberators (minus the shields), 2 of the Prosecutors (minus the wings), and 90% of the Retributors.  I don't intend to leave the wings off but I have to find the perfect time to try to attach them.  I'm a bit shaky.

I think I'll finish up building the final Prosecutor, the wings, and the Retributors.  Then I'm going to do the extra prep before priming; green stuff, damage, cleaning.

I think I'm going to take a break from building after that.  Painting is much, much more fun for me and I need to keep interest.  I have some Blood Bowl teams in desperate need of being finished and my long forgotten Mordheim warband needs some attention too.3

I haven't had much luck with schedules but I'm going to try some deadlines.

General:  Fridays Post Updates other posts as I see fit.
Feb 3:  Finish current Stormcast build.
Feb 10:  Blood Bowl touch ups.
Feb 17:  Build Relictor
Feb 24:  Mordheim touch ups

Got A Letter in the Mail

Opened it up, sure enough, they we were arm in arm again.

The box came today.  Guess I need to do some building, cleaning, and fixing.  Then I can wash them and prime.  This is not my favorite task but it has to be done.  I was able to practice my color options on some other models I had.

I opened up the box to see what I got.  I knew what was in it but it was still fun to check it out.

Okay so I'm building the Stormcast so I think I'll start with the "standard" unit, the liberators.

I've watched a few painting videos and it appears that the best option is the leave the shields off  to have better access to the models.

Here is the first set of builds, minus shields:

1st 4 Liberators

Notes from build:

  1. Halo thingies are super fiddle-ly
  2. Mold lines
Next:
  1. Green stuff
  2. Damage with hobby knife
  3. Clean
  4. Prime

Been a Long Time

My last post was over 4 months ago?  What have I been doing?  Not painting that's for sure.  The last four months have been a bit of a gut punch, but life happens to everyone.  OK, here's to now.

In that time Randroid finally got me to play some AoS... shockingly (not really) I had fun.  So naturally, I needed to pick a faction.  I went into it trying to find the group with the models I like most.  The image I had in my head didn't fit anything I saw on the GW website.  I thought the Khorne models seemed the best of what I saw but the fluff didn't suit me.  I didn't care for the human models as much and I don't like the "cone-head" elf stuff.  But digging through I found some dark elf and wood elf models that didn't have the cones, so I started there.  I use extremely rudimentary graphic skills to edit color options on pictures of the models.  This helped me find a color scheme I liked.  Then I added some Sylvaneth characters and some Stormcast stuff.  I had an army plan!  Then I looked into price and synergy and my idea went up in a cloud of smoke.  They wouldn't work together well without adding other pieces I didn't care for and the price was climbing.

In reflecting on that scenario I was looking for other cheaper ideas.  I stumbled across a picture of a Stormcast Eternal painted in a scheme very close to the one in my head. I didn't are for the golden blob I saw in other pics but these caught my eye.  Also them being in the starter set made them a good price option too.  So that settled it.  I'm gonna be Stormcast.

Here are some of my quick ideas for the faction.
