Update 2/24/15: Mordheim

We played!  We didn’t get as many games in as we thought but at least we played.

Scenario:  The first game of the evening saw my Witch Hunters take on the Undead.  The scenario we rolled for was Surprise Attack.   My Witch Hunters were too busy searching the ruins to notice the Undead approaching from the west.  I’ll do a story style write-up later.

Result:  The Undead destroyed me causing me to have a route test from the get go.  They continued to maul me for a bench of turns but I was very stubborn and kept passing route tests.

Injuries:  One of our Witch Hunters received multiple wounds which included a miss next game and a -1 Initiative.

Most Valuable Warrior:  The Warrior Priest did his part to keep us in the battle taking 2 of the Undead out-of-action including an outright kill on a Dreg.

Money:  My Injured Witch Hunter had to fight a Pit Fighter.  He defeated him in round 1 of combat and won 50 gc for his trouble.

Exploration:  2 Wyrdstone were found

My first knock down.  He knocked me down earlier but my boy took care of him.

The second game was between the Undead and Skaven.  I enjoyed this game from afar.  They played the Scenario:  Wyrdstone Hunt.
Skaven with "Wyrdstone"

Necromancer with "Wyrdstone"
It was so much fun to get to play.  Now I know to make some wyrdstone tokens, hiding tokens, and other stuff I overlooked or forgot about.

Update 2/23/15 - Mordheim

Here we go!  The plan is to play some real games tonight.  I will be using my Witch Hunters against some Undead and Skaven.  I truly expect to get my butt kicked but I don't care.  We're finally going to play! In honor of actually playing some, I thought I'd get out every bit of terrain I've work on, and photograph it.  Now this is just a quick, random setup and not one of these pieces are finished.  The table I'm using to display stuff isn't 4' x 4' but this is just to inventory what I have so far.  A lot of these pieces aren't even totally constructed, let alone painted.

Wall and Well

The flagellant is getting ready to put the night runner in the stocks

Wall 'o' Verminkin about to fire some slings

Hangman is coming down from the Gallows

Witch Hunter advancing between buildings

I might make the obelisk into rubble

Not the best photos.  Bad lighting and out of focus but oh well.  Also, please excuse the mess.  Here is what I have so far.  I put my Witch Hunters and Skaven out there so there would be some idea of scale.  I like the idea and the look of more elevation sections so I think I'll make more risers.  I've quite a bit of work to do, but not tonight.  Tonight we play!

Update 2/19/15 - Mordheim

Well I had a few minutes, a few.  I squeezed as much in as I could.  I primed the Skaven Warband I'm making so I might paint again at some point, maybe.

I made some bases for the extras for my Mordheim terrain and added some grit to them.  I made stocks, a gallows, and a market stand out of some craft sticks a while ago.   Then I decided to make a well, so I carved up some scrap blue foam pieces to make blocks and glued them together.  I took one whooping photo of what I did, so here's that:

That blue thing on the left will be a well... someday.

Oh yeah.  I'm making a water tower as well.  So far I've cut up a Pringles can and added some craft sticks.  I'm going to create a base and top as soon as I figure out how.  I think I'll have some time tonight so I'll try to get more done.  I find if I do a little more planning ahead of time I can take much better advantage of the little time I've been getting.

The Slog - 2/12/15

You hear that sound of hobby work grinding to a halt?  That was coming from me.  I haven't been able to get much hobby time in.  The only thing I was able to do was do some minor conversions on the Skaven Warband I'm building, work a little on the Dog Bowl III dugouts (which now will be the Dog Bowl IV dugouts), and play three games of Blood Bowl while co-running a tournament.  I played a roster of all skinks and one krox, it was a blast.  I got destroyed but it was so much fun that if the skink roster is a FTLOTG team for Zlurpee Bowl XI, I'm taking it!

Dog Bowl III was a success and my co-conspirator, Randroid, may be planning a second Kalamazoo tournament later this year.  Keep an eye on the Zlurpee Forums for Mid-West tourney news.  I have got a bit of the hobby bug back so, if the wife will allow it, I hope to get back at it tonight!

I think I just added something to my list with this all skink team.  Hmm?  The wheels are churning...

This hopefully ends a few unproductive weeks for me.  Here's hoping.
